We are deeply troubled by the events happening in our country right now. People are, rightfully, feeling anger, frustration and hopelessness, by the shocking and unjust death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, at the hands of police officers, in broad daylight. It’s another outrageous example of larger, systemic racism in this country.
We stand alongside the Black community in their sorrow, pain and pursuit of justice and societal reforms. These officers must be held accountable for their appalling actions. Equally as important, we need to see real, sustainable change in our society. We can’t stand by and be silent. We must all engage in conversation, in understanding, in seeking equality, dignity and respect for all people.
Civica stands against racism and hate in all forms. We celebrate diversity. Our mission is “to support and foster the power of transformation for real impact on our communities, industries and all individuals.” This is a time where true transformation is needed. We will be part of the solution.

American Civil Liberties Union: https://www.aclu.org/ | @ACLU
The ACLU dares to create a more perfect union — beyond one person, party, or side. Our mission is to realize this promise of the United States Constitution for all and expand the reach of its guarantees.
The Bail Project: https://bailproject.org/ | @bailproject
The Bail Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system ‒ one person at a time. We believe that paying bail for someone in need is an act of resistance against a system that criminalizes race and poverty and an act of solidarity with local communities and movements for decarceration. Over the next five years, The Bail Project will open dozens of sites in high-need jurisdictions with the goal of paying bail for tens of thousands of low-income Americans, all while collecting stories and data that prove money bail is not necessary to ensure people return to court. We won’t stop until meaningful change is achieved and the presumption of innocence is no longer for sale.
Movement for Black Lives: https://m4bl.org/
The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) formed in December of 2014, was created as a space for Black organizations across the country to debate and discuss the current political conditions, develop shared assessments of what political interventions were necessary in order to achieve key policy, cultural and political wins, convene organizational leadership in order to debate and co-create a shared movement wide strategy. Under the fundamental idea that we can achieve more together than we can separately.
Poor People’s Campaign: https://www.poorpeoplescampaign.org/ | @unitethepoor
The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call is designed to organize a coming together to confront the interlocking evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism. We understand that as a nation we are at a critical juncture — that we need a movement that will shift the moral narrative, impact policies and elections at every level of government, and build lasting power for poor and impacted people.
